He is a brood X cicada from 2 broods ago! He is over 34 years old. It has been electroformed, layering him with copper. He had a short patina bath using my homemade patina; this is why he has such a unique color. I attached one quartz before he was electroformed and one smaller quartz below the 1st one after. It's hard to see the 2nd one in the photos, but it's there.
This is an extraordinary necklace. Quartz is the ultimate healing crystal, and I don't know of another 34-year-old cicada Necklace being sold anywhere.
-His story- my husband collected fifteen cicadas over 17 years ago and saved them like he saves everything (lucky for me). After he saw me collecting them when they started dying off, he brought me a box with a handful of perfectly preserved cicadas. Only some have all their legs like this one. He is in perfect condition, and you can see this magnificent creature's details.

ELECTROFORMING- is a metal-forming technique that uses the process of electrodeposition. Please note that the copper obtained with this technique has a somewhat different structure than cast copper, and it is strongly advised not to try to bend the pendant. It is sturdy enough for normal wear but handle it carefully, like any piece of jewelry.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS-This piece of jewelry has been given a patina and protected with a special sealing to preserve it as long as possible. However, it won't last forever and will change with time. Depending on friction and use, some areas will lighten, and others will darken. It is a natural process that can't be avoided. Each piece will become even more unique and personal. If it darkens too much to your liking, you can clean it with copper care products or a very thin steel wool. Sometimes, copper and copper alloys (like brass) can turn your skin green. It is a normal and harmless thing, due to a reaction to your skin, depending on its acidity.
